A few Saturday's ago, was one of the best mornings yet at The Secret Garden project.
Our first volunteer morning and it started with an A*-team...Team Bentley ( Bentleys Gym)
I have experienced how Adam, as a fitness instructor supports individuals when he wrote me a fitness plan last year. He impressed me with his calm, considered yet powerfully motivating approach.
Coincidentally, my initial fitness program with him, was at the same time as I was presented with the opportunity to start the Secret Garden project. The fitness program he had written for me and the achievements I made week by week (through snotty tears and disbelief) gave me a confidence I have not felt before, and this confidence fueled my courage to take the steps needed to say YES! and leap with faith into the Secret Garden project. Isn't that amazing! Courage = Courage!!
So then, six months down the line and I consider some rather huge stacks of stones and slabs I have created whilst clearing the garden space. I need extra help here...and Adam and his Gym spring to mind.
A 'tiny mudder' challenge is set, and Adam brings with him a most lovely bunch of his Gym community (including his fiance!) to set to on a Saturday morning and shift all the rock and stone onto pallets outside the garden space. It was such a great few hours. Adam directed his team and everything flowed, people smiled, laughed and the atmosphere was one of fun and of true community and teamwork. It was joyful, focused, and for me, moving...community really is a wonderful and bright part of being human and this was my first experience of it at the project. What a start! More dates are due soon and team Bentley would like to return!
Bentleys Gym in Devizes is run by Adam and Harriet, their mission statement is this; "When you start your journey with us, you don’t just join a gym, you become a member of an awesome community!" and that is sure as sure true!
Adam is ex military and it shines through, the bloke knows teamwork, getting a job done and driving to get the most from people in the very best way. Adam has taught me much in a short time. He's one of the good guys. One of many at Bentleys, brilliant guys and gals! Thank you ALL.
